Serve as a liaison to and representative of the department and the Corporation Counsel in various settings, such as internal City meetings and external recruitment efforts. Work closely with the Corporation Counsel and the Chief of Government Services to identify projects in front of the department that are high priorities for the Administration and prioritize various requests for legal assistance. Advise on and contribute to department policy and strategic planning. Ensure the department is executing priority projects on behalf of the Corporation Counsel, including leading work directly. Create and implement a process to review a select set of cases after their decision or settlement, working with the relevant departments to understand and, where necessary, address any issues that the selected cases raise. Work with the Corporation Counsel and department leadership to identify, prioritize and implement key projects led by other members of the department, as well as help track progress, support staff, and align resources for said projects. Strengthen and implement a human resources and workforce development strategy that includes internships, fellowships, and other partnerships with academic and commercial organizations. Oversee a department-wide professional development and training curriculum. Structure and coordinate regular senior management meetings and other communications to ensure effective information sharing, consistency, and performance accountability throughout the organization at departmental, unit, and individual levels. Assist the Corporation Counsel and Office Manager in developing the department’s annual budget and its management. Draft any necessary internal administrative reports, including weekly reports to the Mayor’s Office.
