Infectious diseases with strong focus on virology, and special interest in (+)RNA viruses antiviral therapies and in-depth characterization of innovative antiviral targets and drugs. Immunological, molecular and biochemical approaches for viral and cellular protein (interaction) studies, complemented by high resolution imaging approaches and high-end mass-spectrometry techniques. Further areas of interest include translational virology, with focus on development of oncolytic viral vectors and viral-based gene-therapeutics, and innate immune sensing of pathogens and nucleic acids both at system biology and molecular biology level. Over 10 years working experience with BSL2 and 3+ pathogens and human cell culture systems.Experience in target validation, assays development and mechanism-of-action studies.
