ABOUT PIETRO BOCCALETTO

My professional journey began in the life sciences, where I developed a solid foundation in molecular biology, marine biology, and functional proteomics, conducting applied research from French Polynesia to Eastern Europe. I’ve always been drawn to complex systems and their underlying mechanisms, both in biological and computational contexts.This led me to specialize in bioinformatics, where I worked as a Senior Bioinformatician at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB) in Warsaw. While leading the development of scientific tools and databases, such as MODOMICS and RNArchitecture, widely used in RNA biology research. I simultaneously completed a PhD, focusing on computational biology and data analysis. This dual-track experience shaped both my scientific rigor and engineering mindset.As digital ecosystems became more central to scientific and industrial progress, my focus expanded naturally toward cybersecurity. The analytical skills, systems thinking, and software engineering background developed during my research career provided a strong foundation for entering this field.Currently, I serve as CTO at AptGetDefence, leading Incident Response (IR) operations, R&D, and secure product development, while advising organizations on NIS2 compliance and strategic cyber resilience. Recently I\'ve also been appointed as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Padua (UNIPD) where I will teach in the course of \"Internet Security\", there i will integrate academic depth with hands-on expertise in digital security.My interdisciplinary background, spanning science, software, and security, enables me to operate at the intersection of innovation, regulation, and threat mitigation.
