ABOUT PIERRE BERASTAIN

Executive leader with nearly 20 years of experience building resilient, equity-centered organizations across nonprofits, philanthropy, and higher education. I translate bold strategy into durable systems, stewarding multimillion-dollar budgets, strengthening governance, and aligning people, culture, and capital so impact scales and lasts.From supporting frontline movements to co-creating national centers and advising federal agencies, I’ve worked or partnered with organizations in the Americas, Europe, and Africa to build coalitions grounded in dignity, imagination, and shared power. I’ve served on boards, launched survivor-centered initiatives, and collaborated with partners to reimagine how systems respond to those historically excluded.My path includes leading a $22M global organization through transition, shifting major portfolios from deficit to surplus, doubling reserves, and co-creating national centers and multi-state demonstrations that reform public systems. I’ve partnered with Google.org, Amazon, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and more; reported to and served in multiple boards; and led teams of 70+ across regions. My background bridges public health, social anthropology, theology, and human rights, and I bring that interdisciplinary lens to every facet of my leadership.What I deliver: strategy with execution; fiscal discipline with growth; and structures that empower staff, communities, and partners to thrive.Select Outcomes:• Reversed an $800K deficit to a $2M surplus; doubled reserves from $2M to $4.3M in one year.• Doubled an operating budget from $5.5M to $11M; secured an additional $5M in strategic funding.• Directed $22M+ in global operations; oversaw $50M+ in philanthropic initiatives, supporting 100+ orgs worldwide.• Revamped programs at a number of organizations serving survivors of gender based violence, ranging from increased survivor engagement by ~400% at one institution to structuring programs that met the 95% surge in demand for services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
