ABOUT PIERRE CHAPELET

I’m a senior international development expert, with more than 15 years of experience managing and implementing a diverse range of projects for UN development programmes, especially in the area of education policy formulation, strategic planning in education and education management information systems. I’ve worked or consulted in over 30 countries for various agencies such as UNESCO, UNICEF and World Bank. I’m a skilled communicator with as clear understanding of how to assess stakeholder needs and address these needs with practical solutions. After few years spent in the field of academic research, I joined UNESCO Headquarters in Paris for 7 few years in various units responsible for the coordination and delivery of strategic planning assistance services to developing countries including in emergency contexts. I then moved to the middle east to coordinate and implement a 3 years UNESCO project for strengthening the national EMIS in Jordan. I later joined Community Systems Foundation as a Senior Programme Advisor to provide technical advisory services to governments for strengthening their data systems and later returned back to UNESCO Headquarter. I’ve an extensive experience in data systems in education, strategic plan formulation, monitoring and evaluation as well as in cross-sector coordination. I’ve provided technical assistance and capacity development services in a variety of country contexts for the implementation of national education data monitoring platforms. I’m also skilled in simulation, data analytics, geomatics and geospatial analysis.
