ABOUT PIERPAOLO MARANO

Pierpaolo Marano is a Law Professor lecturing at the University of Malta, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan and the Latvijas Universitāte in Riga where he is also a leading researcher. He is an Honorary Fellow at the Asian Institute of International Financial Law of the University of Hong Kong. He currently teaches Insurance Law and Regulation, Fintech/Insurtech Regulations, Corporate Governance of Insurance Undertakings, European Union Pensions Funds and Products, European Union Risk Governance Regulation. Graduated in Law at the Catholic University, Professor Marano holds a PhD in Banking Law and Regulation from the University of Siena.He was a scholar in residence at the University of Connecticut, School of Law – Insurance law centre, where he co-taught Comparative Insurance Regulation in the Insurance Law LL.M. Pierpaolo Marano has been a visiting professor or a visiting lecture at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, China University of Political Science and Law (Beijing), Southwest University of Political Science and Law (Chongjin), National Taiwan University, University of Malta, Kozminski University (Warsaw), The Chinese University of Hong Kong - CFRED, University of Vilnius, Gujarat National Law University, Japanese Institute of Life Insurance, University of International Business and Economics (Beijing), Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, University of Exeter, University of Hong Kong - AIIFL, Universiti Selangor (Malaysia), Warsaw School of Economics, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, Universidad de Montevideo, CEVRO Institute (Prague). He is a widely-sought writer and speaker on insurance law and regulation. Moreover, he is the Co-Chair of AIDA Europe, director of the AIDA Europe Research Series on Insurance Law and Regulation, published y Springer and indexed in SCOPUS. Also, he is one of the drafters of the Italian Code of Private Insurance and the Italian Corporate Law.
