About Pierce Nelson

I am Chief Communications Officer for the CDC Foundation. I have responsibility for the CDC Foundation\'s communications and branding efforts as well as program communications, communications to business, media relations, speeches and web and social media efforts.I have more than 35 years of strategic communications experience, working with a variety of large and mid-sized organizations. Before joining the CDC Foundation, I worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta for 15 years, serving in a number of communications positions, including 11 years as public information officer. My functional responsibilities included external communications, media relations, policy speeches, government outreach, crisis communications, web/social media and corporate identity.Prior to my work at the Fed, I served in public affairs and corporate communications positions with Riverwood International Corporation, Confed Admin Services and the Georgia Department of Transportation.At present, I serve on the Georgia Council on Economic Education Communications Committee, and I previously served on the board of directors at Villa International.
