ABOUT PIERALBERTO MAIANTI
As a kid, Geography classes and maps had a magnetic effect on my attention. Growing up, still fascinated by Earth representation, I enrolled at Politecnico di Milano to study Environmental Engineer, achieving a M.S. degree in 2007 and a PhD in Geomatics in 2012. For eight years, I have been research assistant and post-doctoral fellow in the Laboratory of Remote Sensing at Politecnico di Milano, mainly on remote sensing and GIS projects for oil & gas industry. In the Lab, I had the opportunity to solidify and steadily improve my skills in data analysis and spatial representation. Later, I worked for one year in a natural gas distribution company as IT Project Manager on the GIS and asset management softwares. I currently work at the EU Joint Research Center as external consultant data analyst and GIS developer in the European Forest Fire Information System.
