About Phoebe K.

I am a physician associate/assistant (PA) in Robotic Liver Transplantation, Hepatobiliary, and Pancreatic Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, as part of a team that is pioneering fully robotic liver transplantation. I earned my Master of PA Studies from the Long Island University (LIU) PA Program, where I graduated summa cum laude, received the Camille Kiefer and Peer Awards, and was inducted into the Pi Alpha Honor Society. During PA school, I was honored to receive the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) 2025 PA Student of the Year Award, as well as the American Association of Surgical PAs (AASPA), New York State Society of PAs (NYSSPA), and Honolulu Federal Credit Union (HOCU) Lydia K.C. Kauha Memorial scholarships. My strong focus on robotic surgery, reinforced through specialized clinical rotations, has enabled me to author and successfully pass policies on robotic surgery and the use of artificial intelligence.Throughout my professional journey, I have been heavily involved in leadership, advocacy, and volunteer initiatives, serving as the AAPA Student Academy Board of Directors Chief Delegate, AAPA House of Delegates (HOD) Student Delegate, PA History Society (PAHx) Student Trustee, NYSSPA PA Student Director, PA Foundation (PAF) Program & Development Committee Member, and LIU PA Program Student Academy Representative (SAR). I am also the founder of HowMedWorks, a multilingual healthcare advocacy and education platform that helps thousands of readers each month more effectively navigate our healthcare system. Through HowMedWorks, I also offer comprehensive study guides and one-on-one coaching services for PA school. In addition to contributing to the advancement of robotic surgery in practice, I am committed to improving healthcare accessibility, supporting current and future PA students, and strengthening the PA profession.
