ABOUT PHIL WHITNEY

Phil Whitney is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has 25 years of construction and engineering experience. In his early career, Phil progressed from site engineer to project manager for a tier one civil engineering contractor where he gained 10 years of valuable experience in construction management on heavy civil engineering projects. During this time he developed his technical skills by undertaking additional duties including temporary works coordinator, appointed person for lifting and design management roles. During the following 15 years, Phil gained significant experience in planning and monitoring of civil engineering throughout the full project life cycle. He has led the bid management and tender planning process for regional businesses and led large integrated planning teams within multi-national joint ventures for major infrastructure projects. During this period he was active in the planning leadership within a major UK contractor where he supported the development of planners through mentoring and provided peer support to ensure good governance on major project and framework delivery. For the past three years, Phil has worked as a planning consultant providing contract support to civil engineering and construction contractors. The range of services he provides includes tender support, construction planning, programme peer review, delay analysis and dispute avoidance. In 2021 Phil graduated from Kings College London with a MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution. He completed the BTEC Level 7 Advanced Professional Award in Forensic Delay Analysis in Construction in 2022.
