Phil has over 25 years experience in contaminated land investigation, risk assessment and remediation gained in industry and consultancy. He has particular expertise in contaminant fate and transport, risk assessment and remediation, particularly bioremediation, permeable reactive barriers and monitored natural attenuation. He has also undertaken numerous industrial effluent and sludge biotreatment projects. His role within the Sirius Group is to provide technical leadership to contaminated land business activities. This includes risk assessment and remediation project services to a diverse client base, directing the company\'s Contaminated Land Group and enhancing business and technical development. Phil is Visiting Professor of Environmental Biotechnology in the Groundwater Protection and Restoration Group at the University of Sheffield, a member (and past chairman) of the CL:AIRE Technology & Research Group, and was chairman of the DTI Bioremediation LINK Programme Management Committee throughout its existence. He has published widely and delivers a diverse range of training on risk assessment and remediation, including courses through professional bodies (including CL:AIRE and the CIEH) and at the University of Sheffield.

ABOUT PHIL MORGAN

Phil is a highly experienced technical specialist with a broad understanding of contaminated land risk assessment and remediation, industrial effluent and waste treatment technologies. He has over 25 years gained in the oil and chemical industry and subsequently in consultancy. His contaminated land experience incldues site investigation, risk assessment and remediation projects. He has particular skills in the evaluation of contaminant fate, environmental impact and human health risk assessment, including contaminant chemistry, toxicology and data interpretation. He has been involved in a diverse range of soil and groundwater remediation projects with particular involvement in soil vapour extraction, bioremediation, Permeable Reactive Barrier (PRB) and Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA) applications. He has also undertaken a range of industrial effluent treatment projects (including biotreatment, flocculation-flotation and air oxidation processes), landfill leachate treatment, and petrochemical waste processing projects, principally sludge pre-treatment and processing.In addition to extensive negotiation experience, covering regulatory negotiation, legal support and public liaison, Phil has maintained a high level of expertise and public profile through participation in R&D projects on remediation technologies, numerous conference presentations, over 50 written publications (including Environment Agency guidance), delivery of technical training courses to regulators and other delegates on CPD-accredited courses, and by teaching on Bachelors and Masters-level degree courses at the Universities of Sheffield and Nottingham.
