Whatever I\'ve focused on in my professional (and personal) life, there\'s always been a central idea at the heart of it: story. Whether I\'m using a customer complaint to teach restaurant managers about guest service, or trying to capture the essence of a billion-dollar company\'s brand for a video script, everything is better as a story. My best photos are stories. The best songs I\'ve written are stories. Even how I proposed to my wife makes a great story!Video was built for stories. The variety visual and aural landscapes video can create are endless. Even in the simplest of formats - the \"talking head\"- video can convey the real meaning behind the words efficiently, and convincingly.I made my first video in high school as part of a creative writing course. My second wasn\'t until over 10 years later, and over 10 years after that I\'ve finally rediscovered my passion for it. And proud of and excited about the commitment Stantec has made to video - co-writing the Stantec Promise video was definitely a highlight of 2013, and I look forward to more opportunities to tell stories that touch people.
