ABOUT PHILIPPE LORENZ
In my research, I am exploring the development of the global regulatory framework for artificial intelligence. In addition to the regulation of AI, I analyze governance processes that are shaped by private-sector actors, and how these processes interact strongly with policymaking. These governance processes include technical AI standardization and patenting of AI technologies. Over the past several years, I have laid special emphasis on the geopolitical and geo-economic implications of AI for German and European foreign policy and on exploring AI\'s core industrial inputs (algorithms, compute, data, and talent) and their relevance to the performance of AI ecosystems.
