   The Vice President, Clinical Operations is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to the success and operational excellence of clinical stage programs; achieving program objectives within established timelines and financial investments. The Vice President, Clinical Operations is also responsible for providing strategic direction, and manages internal clinical operations staff and relationships with external partners to ensure that timelines and deliverables are met, while adhering to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate. This role reports into the Senior Vice-President of Clinical Development. Responsibilities include: • In concert with the Senior Vice President of Clinical Development, co-ordinate, and align the global strategy, study design and execution of clinical trials for complex, large scale, global clinical programs. • Provides leadership, strategic and technical guidance to the clinical operations team responsible for the execution of clinical trials. • Work in a matrix organization and collaborate closely with Translational Sciences, Regulatory, Biometrics, Safety, Manufacturing and Quality departments to ensure tight strategic integration of product development plans • Ensures that external vendors are selected and managed to deliver within established timelines and financial investment. • Directs recruiting, training, and retention of the clinical operations staff. Manages, coaches and mentors direct reports. • Create department standards, systems, and processes across trials; ensures compliance with regulatory and other applicable standards and guidelines as applicable. • Collaborates with internal and external medical, scientific and operational experts to keep abreast of industry standards; provides clinical development with strategic and technical perspective to operational decisions.
