ABOUT PHILIP MILBURN

I enjoyed a successful and busy business career first growing Highway Windscreens (UK) Limited to be a national franchise and after investment by venture capitalists, I then re-purchased the franchise network. I subsequently instigated diversification into commercial and domestic glazing, culminating in the business becoming Highway Glass Limited, the UK\'s biggest provider of emergency glazing services, working predominately for the insurance industry. Many UK insurance companies came to rely on Highway Glass, and the company eventually had yearly sales of over £70m and employed over 800 staff. Highway was acquired by a FTSE 350 company in 2002. Before retiring in December 2006, I stayed on in the business in order to oversee its expansion into plumbing and drainage services. I then spent five years converting my hobby into a business, running five major shoots in Norfolk and a large game rearing farm. However, these businesses were sold in March 2013 and I decided to look at any interesting business opportunities that were available. I decided that the Dwyer Group was an ideal company to join as they had proven business success with seven franchised brands in the USA and I have taken the job of heading up Mr Electric and Aire Serv, which are two of their brands already in the UK. Once these two brands have achieved considerable expansion in the UK the plan is to bring other brands over here and to take any suitable brands into Europe. In February 2016, I re-joineded HomeServe Plc as Franchise Director and thoroughly enjoyed helping them grow their franchised gas installation business. Frustrated by the time I needed to spend travelling and the endless nights in hotels, in 2018 I decided on a new venture whereby I could live and work in Norfolk and in June 2018, I purchased Minuteman Press Norwich.
