ABOUT PHILIP KIRK

I have been working in the field of medical electronics most of my working life, this has been with both the NHS and private sector. After serving in the Medical Physics department at Leeds General Infirmary I have worked with a variety of distributors and manufactures of medical devices. With these I have gained experience working in: • Ophthalmic, Cardiac and General theatres • ICU and HDU (including Paediatric) units • Cardiology • Physiotherapy • Ophthalmic • ENT • Pathology • Neurology • GP surgery An additional part of the work carried out in the Medical Physics department was to design and build one off devices and projects brought to us from the departments around the hospital, these could be complex devices to aid diagnosis or simple designs to improve testing. These projects would involve full project design and build, including PCB design, production and documentation creation. Working with a wide variety of medical devices. I have for the last 20 years been working in the field of medical laser systems. For the later part working with ophthalmic equipment used in Refractive and Cataract surgery, including femtosecond lasers. Gaining a good knowledge of the medical industry from both sides I understand the best way to maintain customer expectations at a level that still remains beneficial to the company.
