Cheltenham Nightsafe is a constituent part of Cheltenham Safe – the business crime reduction partnership for Cheltenham.Membership is open to any licensed venue, which is open for business during the evening or into the night-time and includes traditional pubs, bars, night clubs, restaurants, fast food outlets and late night convenience stores.Nightsafe provides the core functions of a pub-watch scheme with members sharing information with each other, with the police and with voluntary groups such as the Street Pastors. Benefits of Nightsafe membership include:1) The services of a dedicated coordinator2) Radio link scheme providing secure direct contact with other member venues, patrolling police officers/PCSO’s, police CCTV control room and support partners including the Street Pastors, Cheltenham Guardians and University Community Patrols.3) Group exclusion scheme where persons found to have been involved in acts of crime or disorder within or in proximity of licensed premises or who have abuse, threatened or assaulted staff at member venues can be excluded from all member premises for a fixed period.4) Access to photographs of excluded persons and known trouble makers through a secure website or through an accompanying smart phone app which can also be used to submit incident reports to the Cheltenham Safe coordinator or to the police as a crime report5) Regular member meetings providing a forum for discussion between members and with police and local authority licensing staffNightsafe also acts as the representative trade body for licensed premises in Cheltenham and is the primary means of communication between statutory bodies such as the police and Cheltenham Borough Council, Cheltenham Business Improvement District and the licensed trade.
