The following highlights of my managing experience demonstrate my ability to safely reduce operating costs through innovative solutions. Successfully managed 99 hourly and salary workers in the daily operation of a 1.2 million tonne per year clinker facility. Promoting safe work practices through training, auditing and investigations. The operations group has worked 3.5 years without a lost time injury. Submitted research and development tax claims for 9 consecutive years. Defended the claims in 3 separate audits, resulting in over $6 million in reduced tax. Reduced specific power consumption by 10% through process fan and cement mill optimization. Managed the peak power demand within the facility during Ontario peak power days resulting in a $2 million reduction in global adjustment power cost. Annually managed all aspects of the $1.5 million refractory lining maintenance of the pyro-processing system, including: inspection, planning, execution and continuous improvement of the lining performance. Converted a ball mill system from the production of raw feed to make a new ground slag product. The mill system furnace, separator, ball charge, and product transport systems were modified, trial tests were successfully conducted and the plant now produces tonnes of ground slag per year. Lead a fuel cost reduction program by switching the kiln system from a high volatile, low sulfur coal fuel to low volatile, high sulfur petroleum coke. This switch resulted in $1 million per year in reduced fuel costs. Studied stack emission reduction strategies for SOx and was able to achieve a 33% reduction through process changes. Installed and commissioned an ammonia injection system for stack NOx reduction and commissioned a lime injection system for stack SOx reduction.
