ABOUT PHIL COLMER

I’m Phil, co-founder and Director of Strata. We are a small firm of Chartered Certified Accountants and Business Advisors in Oxfordshire who help business owners and entrepreneurs running SMEs to grow and improve their businesses. Using the latest cloud technology to support finance and business decision making is a passion of mine – I am a Xero Gold Champion with extensive knowledge of the ecosystem around the software. My confidence with systems and the adoption of new technology, allow me to be constantly reviewing and improving the finance function, and the key information clients rely on. Taking the stress away from the numbers, I thrive on the knowledge that I can allow entrepreneurs to focus on what they do best and support them in making good business decisions. Over the last 12 months I have: • Supported a tech start-up through a successful £3.5m funding round, acting as the financial point of contact during the due diligence process • Managed the monthly reporting and finance function of a start-up through two years of initial investment to a successful acquisition for over £10m • Successfully transitioned a £2m turnover business from Sage desktop accounting to Xero, including refocusing the executive team strategy and reporting • Supported companies through the process of Innovate Grant reclaims and managed the reporting of these to Innovate UK • Supported clients with R&D reclaims that has allowed over £1m in reclaims from HMRC, enabling them to continue growing. I really enjoy getting to know the individuals behind each business and sharing in their success as trusted partners. It is rewarding to see a motivated client’s hard work pay off and knowing that we have been a key part of that success is a great feeling!
