About Phil Chubb

I proudly serve as Co-chair of Shumaker’s Corporate practice group and have a strong background of management experience that I bring to my role as counsel to primarily middle market corporations, LLCs and management groups. My principal areas include mergers and acquisitions, general corporate transactional matters, as well as state and federal securities law issues. Over my 30 year career, I have had significant experience representing clients in all stages of acquisitions and sales transactions. I also regularly represent clients engaged in management buyouts and succession equity transfers.My team and I have the experience and aptitude to handle large transactions. Clients in a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, securities, and construction, value the depth of knowledge my experience has provided and my genuine desire to be part of the team. I believe there is no better way to learn how to best represent a client than to meet with them at their offices and facilities, where I can see the inner workings of their businesses.As one of the founding partners of Shumaker’s Charlotte office, I was challenged by many of the same business growth issues that my clients face. I regularly serve clients as an “outside general counsel,” where my experience in transactional and other business matters gives me the knowledge to solve a client’s legal and business needs on a comprehensive level. When I’m not busy with my practice, I like to spend time on Kiawah Island with my family. I also enjoy golfing, running, serving on my church council, and raising funds for the Toys for Tots program through work with the Big Heart Foundation.I was honored to be named a 2019 Legal Elite by Business North Carolina magazine and included as one of the Best Lawyers in America, 2020 edition.
