About Phil Stewart

Phil Stewart has worked for Reuters since 1998 and reported from more than 60 countries, including Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, China and South Sudan. An established Washington-based national security reporter, Phil has appeared on NPR, PBS NewsHour, BBC, Fox News and other programs and moderated events on national security issues, including at the Reagan National Defense Forum and the German Marshall Fund. Before becoming a Washington D.C-based reporter, Phil covered terrorism, foreign affairs and the Vatican from Rome from mid-2004 until 2009 and spent nearly 12 years abroad as a foreign correspondent. Before joining Reuters, Phil covered U.S. politics out of Washington D.C. for States News Service. He earned his BS in international relations from Georgetown University\'s School of Foreign Service. He speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. Winner of the Edwin M. Hood Award for Diplomatic Correspondence from the National Press Club and two-time winner of the Joe Galloway Award from the Military Reporters & Editors Association
