Provides technical support and direction to the Cal Lab Operations Department, including all Calibration Laboratories and facilities within the framework of the Transcat Quality System, policies, and procedures, ISO/IEC-17025, good metrology practices(GMetP), applicable government regulation. Perform internal technical audits to verify technician competencies, calibration methods, laboratory environments, and calculated uncertainties for all Transcat facilities. Provide corporate representation and assistance during external audits conducted by ISO/IEC-17025 Accrediting agencies,(NVLAP, A2LA, IAS, and A-Class). Create, develop, and conduct training and qualify calibration technicians. In conjunction with Laboratory Operations requirements, analyze current equipment requirements, research new developments in equipment and technology against current and future calibration demands. Monitor laboratory equipment reliability and develop repair and replacement strategy and provide equipment recommendations. Develop annual laboratory capital equipment budget, manage capital budget implementation and recommend adjustments during the fiscal period. Monitor, and process unplanned laboratory capital equipment expense requests. Provide metrology consulting services for external customers.
