ABOUT PHIL JOHNSON

A conscientious and driven Engineer with 40 years experience within the Automotive industry, focused around the Vehicle Packaging and Studio Engineering disciplines, including a vast array of White Space study concepts. A wealth of experience in overseeing the development of concept proposals through all phases of product maturation up to production readiness. Managing the cooperation between the Design function and all areas of the business, including supplier engineering teams, in order to establish feasibility of proposed themes. Responsibilities include the generation of full vehicle package layout proposals over existing architectures as well as creating them for ground up,\'white space\' designs future aspirations. Initiate the development of the initial Conceptual Design, Volume and Proportion, to assist the development of future architectures. An ability to respond to the challenges and willingness to explore the opportunities that new/emerging technologies are presenting to today’s industry. Skills include use of Engineering CAD authoring tools (CATIA V5, V6, Teamcentre, Enovia, Digibuck). As a member of the Advanced Studio engineering team, I also have an insight into composite materials component design, having lead a small team to build one off vehicle showcar/concepts.A proven track record of delivering core projects and one off award winning special/show car builds. An ability to deliver vehicle programmes to strict deadlines, specification & required levels of quality. Resulting in a wealth of experience and a broad knowledge of whole vehicle layout requirements, platform bandwidth protection & experienced in tackling the challenges presented by new EV/BEV & hybrid technologies.
