ABOUT PHIL JABOUR

Phil Jabour begins his sixth season with the Kings and third as Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel. In this role, Jabour oversees the structure and processes of the scouting department while supporting the organization in key areas of basketball operations such as roster building, strategy, and player-agent collaboration. Jabour played an integral part in the 18-win improvement the Kings boasted between the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, leading to the club’s first Pacific Division title in 20 years.Concluding his 19th season in the NBA, Jabour has led with innovation and a process-driven approach throughout his career. Most recently, as Director of Scouting for the Philadelphia 76ers, he was instrumental in overhauling the team’s player evaluation systems, improving how they analyzed players, leveraged film, and gathered background information on prospects. He contributed to the team’s 42-win improvement between 2015-16 and 2017-18 and helped the 76ers reach the Eastern Conference Semifinals twice during his tenure.Before Philadelphia, Jabour served as a Scout for the Orlando Magic (20••••14), focusing on player evaluation and information gathering. His NBA career began in 2006 as Daryl Morey’s first scouting hire with the Houston Rockets, where he worked his way up the personnel ranks after starting as an intern. He played a key role in shaping the 2007-08 Rockets’ roster that achieved a 22-game winning streak and served as Director of Scouting for the Rockets’ minor league affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, contributing to two NBA D-League Finals appearances and a championship in 2010.Jabour’s experience extends beyond the NBA. In a continual effort to stay ahead of the curve of personnel processes, Jabour has collaborated with numerous MLB, NFL and NHL organizations to gather ideas and best practices from other professional sports. Additionally, he contributed to the USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team’s gold-medal-winning campaign in 2006 and served as a support staff member of Arizona State University’s men’s basketball program (20••••06). Jabour graduated from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business as a Dean’s List Honoree with a Bachelor of Science in management and earned a Master’s of International Business from the University of St. Thomas.
