I teach Biology, Honors Biology, Environmental Science, Honors Environmental Science and AP Psychology at North-Grand HS, a neighborhood high school in the Hermosa/West Humboldt Park community of Chicago. I am Science Department Chairperson, a member of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), the Professional Problems Committee (PPC) and have previously served on the Data Team. In 2014 I was elected by the faculty to represent teachers on our Local School Council (LSC) which oversees the school\'s improvement plan, budget and has the responsibility to evaluate the principal. I\'ve supervised student teachers from the Masters in Science Education program at the University of Illinois Chicago since 2012, and in 2015 was named a Master Teaching Fellow in the National Science Foundation funded Project (Science Education for Excellence and Equity in Chicago) program. I\'m currently a doctoral student in math and science education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have a strong interest in education as a force for social justice and am on the leadership team of Teachers for Social Justice.
