About Phalika Oum
I hold a bachelor\'s degree in sociology with an anthropology concentration and have a background in environmental science, history, and public health. My academic interests are in Southeast Asian and Cambodian migration and diasporas, asking questions around globalization, nationalism, and empire. My research uses interdisciplinary methods with food as the medium for understanding cultural landscapes, geospatial interactions, and mobility.Currently, I work full-time in internal communications at a sustainable agriculture nonprofit, where I am able to sharpen my reading and writing skills, as well as strengthen my knowledge of resilient climate practices, agriculture, and the general foodscape.I hope to offer an antiracist, anti-colonial, and anti-oppressive education to the next generations of learners.
