I\'m an experienced bilingual program coordinator with a focus on immigrant advocacy who is dedicated to achieving economic and social equality for marginalized students by: Encouraging the creation and execution of effective, barrier-reducing social/education policy Facilitating communication between key stakeholders including parents, school administrators, government officials, and community organization/agency representatives Empowering parents by coaching them on the education system in their district, state, and the U.S, while encouraging them to be actively involved and insuring they have the tools necessary to advocate for their children Practicing cultural competency and collaborating with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to ensure a culturally responsive environment, to increase the chances of success for marginalized students Continuing professional development via trainings and courses on: health policy/Medicaid (MassHealth) and other public benefits for immigrants, connecting regularly with immigration law advocates to ensure knowledge of up-to-date immigration information, and empowering community leaders and immigrants, and innovative/best practices within education 10+ years of diverse experience within education including- Organizing group and private tutoring sessions for Title I-supported migrant students as defined by the Office of Migrant Education within the Department of Education- Leading seminar-style class for students at Brandeis as a TA for Intro to International and Global Studies for two semesters- Designing and implementing English curriculum- Teaching 30+ college students in Bogotá, Colombia- Tutoring refugee students in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area - Co-teaching English to primary students in Málaga, Spain- Teaching bilingual students as Bilingual Aide in a SPED classroom
