As Director of Program Management for the Medical Platform, I am responsible for managing the development of the global Dräger Medical device and software platform. We develop this platform across all locations with an international team of software and hardware experts and thus provide the technical basis for our modern products in the therapy and patient monitoring area. In addition to the operational control and coordination with the using development areas including our locations in the USA and China, the strategic further development together with the specialist disciplines is in my area of responsibility.In my previous role as Head of Software Development, I was responsible for the software development area of all therapy devices (this includes the areas of anesthesia, intensive care ventilation, emergency ventilation, thermoregulation and electroimpedance tomography).During my career at Dräger, my achievements include- Realignment of the global development platform of Dräger Medical - Leading the software development department of Dräger Medical R&D, continuously evolved state of the art agile methodolgies, test automation, continuous integration infrastructure and tooling - Initiated the idea and concept for a manufacturer-independent communication protocol for networking medical devices and successfully established it in the company, thus laying the foundation for today\'s communication standard SDC for medical devices - Participated in a cross-functional management team to develop a global innovation strategy for Dräger - Developed service tools that significantly increased the efficiency of internal and external service personnelIn my professional career, software development and agile methods were in focus early on. For example, during my time as a research assistant in the field of mobile communications technology, I developed an extensible simulation tool and published it as an open source project. In my following professional station at today\'s Plath Group, I worked as a software developer and architect in the technically challenging area of radio reconnaissance systems. During this time, I gave my first presentation on agile development back in 2006. After starting as a software architect at Dräger, I have shifted my focus from an expert career to leading teams and managing development areas since 2008.
