About Padmashree Gehl Sampath
Professor Gehl Sampath is currently Senior Fellow, Mossavar Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School and the Chief Executive Officer of the African Pharmaceutical Technology Foundation. She directly reports to Chairmans and CEOs of large companies for the development of new markets and products.She holds several distinguished academic positions, including Visiting Professor in Practice at the London School of Economics (UK), Honorary Professor at the University of Rwanda, and Professorial Fellow at the United Nations University-MERIT. Previously, she was a Director at the Global Access in Action Program at Harvard University, a Fellow at the Berkman Klein Center, Harvard University, a Senior Strategic Advisor to the Africa Centres for Disease Control (CDC), and the Chair of the Technical Advisory Group for the World Health Organisation\'s COVID-19 Technology Access Pool (CTAP). A highly respected thought leader, Professor Sampath has over 25 years of expertise in market access and market development, including technology transactions, intellectual property, licensing, business development and market competition for new age biotech and pharmaceutical companies. She specialises in helping global industry leaders and governments assess competitiveness risks and design strategies for business development, market design, industrial transformation, innovation and portfolio management for resilient growth. She works directly with CEOs and senior executive teams of C-suite industry and emerging multinationals, as well as various heads of States, on navigating business opportunities and risks. Professor Sampath is a prolific author and speaker, having written six books and over one hundred articles and reports. She is the Founder of the Forum of Industrialisation Futures, an initiative that looks at innovation and business creation for industry in the Global South in turbulent times. She serves on several international boards and a variety of non-profit boards, including currently the Trade and Industrialisation Advisory Council of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). She has three forthcoming books on digital competition, global health diplomacy, and economic strategies for business transformation.She is the recipient of numerous international awards, including one from the Rockefeller Foundation.
