ABOUT PRIYANK ARORA

I research, teach, and serve at the Darla Moore School of Business in the University of South Carolina in the role of Associate Professor of Management Science. I am primarily interested in advancing the understanding of operational decision-making within and across organizations in the presence of social and environmental considerations (for instance, UN Sustainable Development goals such as good health, no poverty, and clean water and energy).My current research interests span two areas within the field of Operations Management (OM): nonprofit operations and sustainability. In my recent research studies, I have employed analytical (e.g, econometric, game-theoretic, and optimization models) and empirical (e.g, event study) techniques to study problems involving the following social and environmental dimensions: resource-allocation strategies in nonprofit organizations, quality-of-life outcomes in organ transplantation, and shareholder value effects of appointing corporate sustainability executives.My teaching interests are in operations/supply chain management concepts and their interrelationships with societal and environmental responsibilities - with a focus on service industry. I am passionate about helping my students cultivate an independent ability to frame a real world problem in a systematic decision-making perspective.Some Background Information:Previously, I was an assistant professor at the Isenberg School of Management in the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I earned my PhD in Business Administration at the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Institute of Technology. I completed post-graduate program in management at the Indian School of Business (ISB), and received my Bachelor of Engineering degree at the University of Delhi.Before starting in the PhD program, I worked in OM Department at ISB as a Research Associate. Prior to academic career, I held Senior Software Engineer position at Samsung Electronics.
