ABOUT PEYTON WINSETT

Born and raised in small-town Jones, Oklahoma, I graduated high school as class valedictorian and grew up immersed in family, nature, and competitive dance. After 15 years of dance training at my home studio—where my passion for teaching began—I moved to California to pursue higher education. I recently graduated from Chapman University in May 2025 with a B.A. in Dance and Psychology and a minor in Integrated Educational Studies. During my time at Chapman, I developed both artistically and professionally through various student leadership roles. I worked as a campus tour guide, an office assistant for the Dance Department, and a lead resident advisor for Residence Life and First Year Experience—roles that strengthened my skills in customer service, public speaking, conflict resolution, and event planning. I was also actively involved in the campus community as a founding executive member of the Lambda Omicron chapter of Alpha Chi Omega, an active member of Chapman Dance Alliance, and a student choreographer and teacher within the dance program. I was honored to be inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the National Dance Honor Society, Order of Omega, and Mortar Board. I also served as the Class of 2025 representative on the Dance Department Chair’s Advisory Council, where I advocated for student needs and concerns. Beyond the classroom, I am passionate about working with children and individuals with disabilities. I’ve volunteered at epilepsy awareness events in Orange County and recently began providing respite care for a young individual with Down syndrome—an experience that has deeply influenced my perspective and values. Now that I’ve graduated, I’m actively pursuing a career in dance performance and dance education. I’m passionate about the power of movement to tell stories, connect people, and inspire growth—and I’m excited to share that passion through performance and by fostering community in every space I enter.
