ABOUT PETER WORLEY

I co-founded the award-winning charity The Philosophy Foundation in 2010 having worked doing philosophy in schools for over 20 years. In that time I developed a world-renowned way of facilitating philosophical conversations with children and adults inspired by the ancient Greeks called PhiE (Philosophical Enquiry). This method is outlined in 9 books I wrote on doing philosophy in schools, among them the bestselling The If Machine (Bloomsbury), the award-winning The Philosophy Shop, the award-nominated 100 Ideas for Primary Teachers: Questioning (Bloomsbury) and the critically acclaimed Corrupting Youth (Rowman & Littlefield). As well as having developed a unique approach to doing philosophy in schools, I am also known for developing an approach to questioning known as Open Questioning Mindset (a cover story feature in the TES, 2017) and for making a crucial distinction between different kinds of open and closed question that overhauls how we approach the use of such questions in the classroom.
