About Pete Roden

I am an Engineering Manager for Commercial Software Engineering (CSE) at Microsoft. CSE is a global engineering organization that works directly with the largest companies and not-for-profits in the world to tackle their most significant technical challenges. In the process, we help shape the future of our own platforms by partnering with our product groups to improve them and make them easier to adopt.My work involves the development of high-impact, open source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform that are broadly applicable, while enabling my team to apply their skills, creativity and aspirations. Important to the role, navigating customer engagement and contextualizing their challenges with the aim of providing the largest impact while minimizing risk. My focus areas include Application development, Bot and Cognitive Services, as well as IoT for cloud-scale applications. I am passionate about Serverless, IoT and Embedded design for their interaction with the real-world and I lead workshops for teens in my area sharing my excitement and knowledge. I develop, build, and design on my own time, everything from building arcade machines with CNC to cloud based temperature controls for grills.
