ABOUT PETER MCCLURE

I am a technical translator working from German to English and French to English, with a focus on automotive, engineering, pharmaceutical and financial content. At this stage in my career, I am building a freelance practice that combines linguistic precision with a commercial understanding of what clients need: clear, accurate and dependable English that reflects their brand and technical standards. I work best on projects where quality matters and where the final wording needs to read naturally, not just correctly. My language background is rooted in formal study and a strong academic foundation. I read a BA in French and German at the University of Oxford, which gave me a deep appreciation of language, structure and nuance, as well as the discipline to work carefully with complex material. That academic training, combined with practical translation experience, means I am comfortable handling texts that demand both accuracy and judgement. I perform my best work when I am helping clients turn complex technical content into clear, natural English that actually reads well, not just accurately. With a mix of in-house experience and five years freelancing, I understand how to fit seamlessly into a client’s workflow and deliver reliable, detail-focused work that makes their content feel effortless to their audience.
