I am Senior Tax Counsel and Director, Tax Audits at Amgen. I provide strategic leadership in all phases of tax controversy, including IRS audits, administrative appeals before the IRS Appeals Division, and litigation before federal courts. My experience includes complex corporate and partnership tax disputes including leasing transactions, purchase price allocations, economic substance issues, substance-over-form disputes, and intercompany transactions, including transfer pricing disputes. My litigation experience includes matters in the United States Tax Court, the Northern District of Illinois, United States Court of Federal Claims, and United States Courts of Appeals.

   I lead the company’s U.S. income tax audit group which is responsible for defending the company in tax controversies in the audit, appeals and litigation stages. I manage the company’s IRS income tax audits with a significant focus on transfer pricing, as well as state, local, and foreign income tax audits. I provide strategic leadership for the audits, including management of external advisors, while providing oversight and leadership of the team members responsible for day-today audit management.
