About Peter Kobel
I\'m an author, journalist, and educator. I\'ve written two books:\"The Strange Case of the Mad Professor: A True Tale of Endangered Species, Illegal Drugs, and Attempted Murder\"(Globe Pequot Press) and \"Silent Movies: The Birth of Film and the Triumph of Movie Culture\"(Little, Brown). I\'ve also written about music, movies and books for The New York Times, Chicago Tribune and The Los Angeles Times and worked as an editor for Entertainment Weekly, Premiere, Saveur and ARTnews. I taught journalism at Springfield College and Hunter College and creative nonfiction writing at the Hampshire County Jail in Northampton, Mass. I\'m passionate about a number of causes, including prison reform, environmental and social justice, and human rights. I\'ve served as a communications consultant for such nonprofit organizations as the National Audubon Society, Human Rights Watch, the Earth Institute Center for Environmental Sustainability, the Endangered Species Coalition, and 350.org.
