ABOUT PETER DAVIES
MY MISSION (\"Why\") Most technology vendors claim to understand UK Government. Very few have worked inside it — navigating procurement frameworks, security classifications, air-gapped infrastructure and a deeply risk-aware buying culture — across multiple departments and over many years. I have. Since 2021, I’ve served as GitLab’s Senior Major Account Executive for UK Government, leading relationships across DWP, HMRC, Home Office, MOD, Scottish Government and others. Previously, I built the EMEA Government go-to-market for Docker Enterprise (acquired by Mirantis). Before that: Splunk and MuleSoft. Earlier in my career, I spent over a decade at Dell EMC and Hewlett-Packard, selling storage infrastructure into some of the UK’s most complex government estates, including DWP, FCO and MOJ. That breadth matters. It means I understand not just modern software delivery, but the infrastructure it runs on, the procurement cycles that shape investment, the partner ecosystems that enable delivery, and the internal dynamics that determine whether transformation succeeds — or quietly stalls. MY APPROACH My approach is simple: before talking technology, understand what the organisation is trying to achieve — and what’s genuinely getting in the way. Across UK Government today, that often includes fragmented toolchains, manual hand-offs between teams, integration overhead slowing developers down, compliance obligations that inhibit pace, and senior leaders under pressure to demonstrate progress while managing legacy estates. I don’t arrive with a generic slide deck or a predetermined answer. I come prepared — having taken the time to understand your context — and ready for a discussion grounded in what matters to your CDIO, security and assurance leads, and commercial and finance stakeholders. From there, it’s about working together to explore where change adds real value, how risk can be managed appropriately, and whether there’s a practical path forward that fits your organisation. If that conversation would be useful, I’d welcome the opportunity to connect. Peter Davies M: 07•••••••01
