About Peter Martinez

My name is Peter Frank Martinez. I am first generation college graduate. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I decided to take the biggest risk of my life and do my undergrad out of state in Minnesota at a small, liberal arts college called Saint John’s University. 4 years later, I decided to stick around Minnesota a bit longer, so I completed my graduate work at the University of St. Thomas pursing a Masters Degree in Leadership in Student Affairs. My first full-time job after finishing my Student Affairs program was one of the new Resident Directors at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Fast forward to April 2018, I accepted a position as a Resident Director at the University of Nevada, Reno. In the summer of 2019, I made the transition to work in career services at the University of Nevada, Reno. I am now the Coordinator of Employer Relations at the Nevada Career Studio, the University\'s central career services office. I work with employers to help recruit our students for career opportunities and educate students it is never too early to think about their potential career path.I am always making sure the people around me are satisfied. I always have a positive outlook in life. I believe if I can make some laugh or smile, then I must be doing something right.

   Jul 2025 — Present

   Host up to 7 career fairs during the academic year and manage the employer registration process, fair policies, employer and student marketing, on-site staffing, budget, and assessment• Implement an employer sponsorship program to form multiple employer partnerships• Host Manufacturing Day that highlights various career paths in manufacturing industry with employers in Nevada• Coordinate up to 8 employer tabling events during the academic year for student/employer engagement• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Handshake Specialist (student worker)• Train staff how to use Handshake: student check-in process, employer/job approvals, and analytics/reporting• Design and update the Nevada Career Studio website via Ingeniux Content Management System (CMS)
