ABOUT PETER FLOOD
I am an aquatic ecologist who primarily studies fishes. My research aims to understand ecological consequences of both natural (e.g, seasonal and spatial) and anthropogenic (e.g, climate change, invasive species, and hydrologic alteration) changes by integrating across scales of biological organization. I focus on communities and food webs to connect individuals and populations to ecosystem functions and services. My research at University of Michigan uses museum specimens and a trait-based approach to examine impacts of climate change on growth in a freshwater fish community. Previous and ongoing research stemming from my PhD at Florida International University examines drivers of trophic dynamics including natural spatial and temporal variation, ecosystem engineering, and invasive species. Outside of science, I am a girl dad who enjoys spending time with my family, sports, playing and watching, especially basketball and football, just about anything in or on the water (e.g, scuba diving, fishing, boating), being outdoors running, hiking, or biking, traveling, and I have a terrible condition when it comes to books (once I pick one up I can\'t put it down).Find me on Bluesky @pjflood.bsky.social
