ABOUT PETER WILKIE

I am a passionate and creative engineer who has enjoyed working across the water, energy, and housing sectors for over 20 years. Delivering projects with a positive impact on individuals, society, and our environment strongly motivates me. I enjoy learning and thrive in an environment where I am surrounded by brilliant team-members with a similar vision. But I’m experienced enough to know that neither project success nor great teams happen by accident. Each takes foresight, dedication, and care to achieve.As a design team leader, I have been involved in some of the most significant infrastructure projects delivered in the UK including the Thames Tideway Tunnel, HS2, water company’s AMP investments, and Ofwat’s £200m sector innovation fund. On each project I have built high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams, coordinating the delivery of robust and efficient systems and designs through identifying and managing project risks. My experience spans the full project lifecycle from early stage strategy development, concept development, feasibility studies, FEED, detailed design and specification, procurement, construction and installation, and asset management. Through working on a wide range of projects, both in the UK and internationally, I have developing experience in different procurement approaches and delivery models. Early in my career I was site-based for 18 months, leading to a good appreciation of contract management, constructability, and the practical issues arising from integrating new infrastructure into existing assets. I am practiced in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and clients to find mutually acceptable ways forward.I am extremely worried by the climate crisis, and the required urgent decarbonisation of all sectors of our economy to ensure a safe and just future environment. But I am excited and motivated by the fact that the transition to a low carbon economy will require brilliant engineering solutions, rapid innovation, and extensive collaborative working. I am committed to being part of this solution.
