ABOUT PETER VAINES

I practice as a barrister advising clients in the UK and all over the world on UK corporate tax and personal tax including tax investigations, trusts and offshore structures and fiscal share valuations. I have particular experience on the law of residence and domicile, and advise on all aspects of the subject. Many of my clients are high-net-worth individuals with successful private companies requiring tax advice across a wide spectrum of business and finance. Although I am usually instructed by solicitors and accountants on behalf of their clients, I am also authorised under the Public Access Scheme to accept instructions directly from lay clients. I have been listed as a leading lawyer on private client matters in London by Chambers UK and recognized in PLC Which lawyer? Yearbook and The Best Lawyers in the United Kingdom. I am a qualified as an English barrister, a chartered accountant, a chartered tax adviser and a chartered arbitrator. I act as a an arbitrator in tax and financial matters and have broad experience as an expert witness on tax issues. I frequently write and lecture on tax subjects in the United Kingdom and several other countries. I received the Taxation Writer of the Year Award in 2015. Before joining Field Court Tax Chambers, I was the senior tax partner in a firm of chartered accountants for over 20 years, and subsequently was a senior tax partner in two major international law firms.
