ABOUT PETER STUDDERT

I am an independent adviser on city planning and design based in Cambridge. Qualified as a town planner, with a background in architecture, I have wide experience in managing change and growth in historic cities from the sub-regional level down to individual sites. I was formerly Director of Planning at Cambridge City Council.I have a particular expertise in design review. I chair the Quality Review Panel that advises the London Borough of Haringey and I am also a member of the Harlow and Gilston Garden Town Design Review Panel. I am a Past Chair of the London Legacy Development Corporation\'s Quality Review Panel, as well as a Past Chair of Historic England\'s Historic Places Panel (formerly the Urban Panel). During 2019 I was an adviser to the Government\'s Building Better Building Beautiful Commission.I have extensive experience in masterplanning large scale new communities, with an acknowledged track record in securing high standards of design and sustainability and ensuring the timely provision of appropriate social, physical and environmental infrastructure. I also have in-depth experience in managing the historic environment and in developing strategies for landscape and green infrastructure. I have a strong commitment to working closely with local communities and I enjoy the challenges involved in working in partnership with public, private and voluntary agencies and in working across local authority boundaries. I am used to public speaking, and have presented papers at national and international conferences.Specialties: Design review, city planning, new communities, urban design, historic environment, sustainability, green infrastructure.
