Peter Shaw is a Chartered Engineer working for AECOM, which he joined after graduation in 2004. Since then he has been working in the Highways and Environmental design section mainly developing designs and managing different aspects of a number of DRD Roads Service strategic road projects. Over the last two years Peter has been responsible for the development of drainage and utility solutions for the A24 Ballynahinch Bypass including SUDS solutions, culverts and watercourse diversions. This includes consultation with all appropriate statutory bodies and utility companies. He is also responsible for delivering a fully developed solution to drainage and services challenges on the A2 Shore Road, Greenisland road improvement scheme, for which construction is ongoing. He was also responsible for the design of culverts and agreements with Rivers Agency. Peter was responsible for consultation with all utility companies including NIE, NIW, Phoenix Gas, Virgin, BT and C&W. Through the NIRAUC process Peter discussed and approved C4 estimate returns and incorporated these, and the Utility Special Requirements, into the Contract. Peter was also responsible for drainage related input into the Contract. On behalf of NIW Peter designed all sewer diversions and completed the C4 estimate return. Since construction began Peter has been responsible for the technical assessment/approval of drainage design, utility diversions and accommodation works. Peter has held meetings with statutory authorities, utility providers and other stakeholders including landowners.Peter is the CEEQUAL Assessor for a number of schemes including road schemes, public realm schemes, a city centre bridge and a flood alleviation scheme. Peter is also a qualified CEEQUAL Verifier, one of three in Northern Ireland, verifying schemes on behalf of CEEQUAL.
