ABOUT PETER MARKOPOULOS
French to English translator/reviser with 20 years\' experience in the translation/editing field, with 10 years spent working for accounting firms (Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton and Ernst & Young, respectively). I have extensive knowledge of, among others, the financial, tax, assurance, SST, human resources, real estate, marketing and business development sectors, having translated a variety of bulletins, memorandums, financial statements, annual reports and guides in these domains. Apart from translation skills, I have also been responsible for handling the revision (documents translated from French into English) of a vast volume of work for both internal and external clients, as well as editing and proofing texts originally drafted in English. Moreover, I have also acted as a liaison with clients, creating solid and lasting business relations as well as occasionally coordinating and outsourcing work, while handling the quality control of the documents in question before their final delivery to clients. I have also worked in the advertising field, having been a copywriter at the corporate head office of Zellers Canada in Toronto. While working as a copywriter, I was able to give free reign to my creative skills and worked in tandem with the company\'s team of graphic designers and layout artists in order to create content for advertising campaigns and special in-store promotions. Additional duties also included proofing and creating content for the pages of the company\'s fliers. Prior to my advertising stint, I was part of a small team of translators that had been assigned to translate a series of mathematical textbooks and teachers’ guides intended for Secondary and IV students. The books and guides, titled ‘‘Mathematical Reflections’’, were subsequently issued to the Protestant School Board of Greater Montréal (PSBGM) and used as part of the Board’s curriculum. The project lasted a total of two years and was completed in the summer of
