About Peter Maretz
I began my legal career in 1989 with what was then the largest law firm in the world. I joined my current firm over 20 years ago. My specialty and primary expertise is employment law and related litigation and counseling, and I’ve tried dozens of matters to successful jury verdict or arbitration award. I am proud of my record as a trial lawyer, but perhaps more proud of the work I do with clients as a partner in building their brand and culture, and do this not just for purposes of litigation or union avoidance, but primarily because we believe a strong company culture is critical to maximizing a company’s success, regardless the industry. Most of my current clients are in the hospitality context, but I also serve clients outside of that space including in trucking, manufacturing, including medical device manufacturing. In addition, I have worked as outside general counsel to a number of different firms, including currently serving as outside GC for a London-based hospitality company and its two premier Five-Star hotel properties in Southern California. In that capacity, I work hand-in-glove with Human Resources to build and maintain the company culture, which includes leadership building, labor cost management, union avoidance, and employee health and welfare. It is my privilege to partner with businesses and individuals alike.
