Specialising in corporate restructuring and insolvency based in London as part of a DLA Piper\'s UK and international Restructuring Practice, advising in the following principal areas:Formal insolvency- advising financial institutions, insolvency practitioners and corporate entities with regard to administrations and receiverships. Advising on and structuring sales of business and assets (as going concerns or on an individual asset basis) for the benefit of stakeholders and the insolvent entity\'s creditors.Acquisition- advising clients pursuing opportunities to acquire business / assets in a distressed company scenario. For example, acting for clients in the retail sector in the pruchase of business and assets (including brand rights) from an insolvent competitor.Commercial advice- advising corporate clients with regard to risks arising on the insolvency of their suppliers / trade customers and assisting our clients to mitigate those risks at the outset of that trading relationship. Advising on terms of business at the outset from an insolvency risk perspective can be of significant benefit.Finance- advising financial creditors with regard to their security position in respect of their corporate borrowers on insolvency. Assisting financial institutions in assessing their risk and exposure in the event of the borrower\'s finances becoming distressed.Litigation and recovery of funds / assets- advising clients on recovering funds / assets following the insolvency of a company (in particular the secured finance creditors of that company) and analysing potential owner/manager misfeasance with the potential to challenge transactions undertaken in the period leading to the company\'s insolvency.Directors- advising directors with regard to their duties when managing a company which is at risk of insolvency and / or undergoing a turnaround plan. Advising on compliance with statutory duties to mitigate risk of personal liability in the event of insolvency.
