About Peter M. Black
Peter Black is presently an independent consultant in the area of Clinical Outcomes Assessment (COAs), Digital Health Outcomes and Clinical Operations. Prior positions have included: Senior Scientist and the Senior Director overseeing the COA consulting group at ERT, Senior Director of operations for the PRO Consulting group at Invivodata, VP of Site Operations and VP of Strategic Initiatives at Scirex/Premier. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester\'s School of Medicine and Dentristry/Eastman Dental Center and held the position of Director of Analytics and compliance at Preferred Care a non-profit HMO. Mr. Black has over 20 years of experience in both commercial and academically-based clinical research, with expertise in electronic data capture, operations oversight, statistical analysis, clinical trial design and Patient Reported Outcomes. He has worked on or overseen >100 Clinical trials across various therapeutic areas. Prior to joining ERT/Invivodata he held senior management positions with SCIREX & Premier Corporations in the areas of outcome methodology development, clinical site operations, quality systems, and corporate strategic initiatives, including responsibility for multiple corporate metric systems and development of new measurement methodologies. He has served as a co-developer of a number of novel pain models and anxiolytic screening methodologies which are presently used in the industry (e.g, Bunionenctomy Pain Model, Anxiolytic Screening Model). Mr. Black was a co-investigator with Dr. Paul Desjardins on studies developing the Two Stopwatch method for measuring speed of onset for pharmaceutical compounds which is considered the standard for measuring speed of onset in acute pain trials. Additionally he designed and executed one of the first eCOA technology in a proof-of concept RCT comparing paper diaries vs. electronic data capture (1997) utilizing the Apple Newton. He has over 70 presentations at professional meetings as well as multiple publications in peer reviewed journals and is a reviewer for various PRO journals. He holds a BSc. in Psychology, MSc. in Health Sciences and has completed post-graduate course work in statistics, epidemiology and clinical psychology from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. In addition he has completed graduate courses in finance and corporate communications at the McCombs Business School - University of Texas, Austin.
