ABOUT PETER LODGE

Peter trained in surgery in Yorkshire, and then Harvard Medical School, at the New England Deaconess Hospital, Boston, USA, returning to Leeds as Consultant Surgeon in 1992, and being awarded a Chair in Surgery in 2004. He has created a major hepatobiliary unit, providing a service for difficult liver tumours, developing innovative surgical strategies for patients with complex problems, and also multi-organ transplantation (including new techniques for auxiliary liver transplantation for acute liver failure), and he supported the development of the UK\'s largest NHS live donor liver transplant programme. He has been active in research, attracting more than $20m in grant income venture capital funding, supporting many young surgeons for higher degrees, and has achieved more than 300 publications and 30 book chapters, including “Liver” in Gray’s Anatomy (41st edition). He now leads the cancer services for Leeds. Peter is passionate about improving patient care in surgery; he is key opinion leader in liver surgery and transplantation.
