About Peter L.

I am a dedicated, dynamic leader with extensive experience in community colleges and diverse, urban student populations. I have a strong foundation in classroom teaching as well as instructional design, giving me an extensive background with contemporary pedagogy and andragogy as applied to traditional, blended, and online instruction. This background gives me a unique ability to work with faculty and administrators to align their vision and priorities toward the common goal of student success. Additionally, my collaborative leadership style creates open spaces for divergent views to come together toward a common purpose, allowing me to successfully work with varying departments within an institution, multiple colleges across the state, as well as national organizations interested in higher education. All of my work centers on the belief that education is the great equalizer of opportunity in our country and that there is no greater achievement than helping people become effective, independent learners. As a faculty member, this influence is shown in project-based and game-based lesson development as well as learner-centered strategies of classroom management. As an administrator, this influence leads to collaborations that accentuate the expertise each individual brings to the table and allows people to shine in ways that they would not otherwise do on their own.Outside of work, you will find me spending time with my family as we enjoy an urban life in downtown Denver. I also spend quite a bit of time working with a small group of writers as we strive to perfect our poems, stories, and art.
