About Peter Kim

With more than 20 years of guiding and transforming medical service delivery, I have excelled globally as a trusted change agent. This includes multiple promotions and awards with the USAF, where I provided guidance and oversight for key medical services during my 23 years of service.At present, I am the Chief Medical Officer of Sharp Community Medical Group in San Diego, CA, where I lead and support the delivery of high quality and patient centered healthcare by community based physicians all over SD County. My last role as an Air Force physician leader was at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center as Chief Medical Officer where I served as an executive champion for a strategic line of effort (quality and safe patient care). I also forged lasting relationships with both the German healthcare system and other stakeholders to develop a robust Emergency Management Plan for large-scale medical emergencies, with the initiative now adopted as a gold standard.Prior to this, I was the Chief of the Medical Staff for both the RAF Lakenheath Hospital (2015 – 2019, 48th Medical Group) and the Osan Air Base Hospital (2008 – 2015, 51st Medical Group). I was instrumental in the 48th Medical Groups\' numerous recognitions as Hospital of the Year for both regional and AF levels, showcasing my ingenuity and capacity to balance changing organizational priorities. I also ensured productivity as the High-Reliability Organization transformation linchpin, certifying 20 trainers and fostering a Zero Harm culture.With the 51st Medical Group, I orchestrated 18 bilateral educational engagements between US Military and Korean civilian medical center, including the first-ever trauma conference for the Republic of Korea. Among my peers, I am known for my passion for people and healthcare, discipline, mentorship, ability to remain calm under pressure, and tireless work ethic.Supporting these achievements is my current certification with the American Board of Pediatrics and as a Certified Physician Executive (CPE).In my free time, I enjoy traveling and outdoor activities.
